Ruffle Front Top / Scalloped Flats - All Dressed Up

Ruffle Front Top / Scalloped Flats

A trend I just can't get enough of right now is ruffles (see this post and this post for example...). I especially love when they're understated like with this top! Another thing I love about this top it is that it's a neutral color and a simple shape, but the ruffle, the fabric and the subtle hint of sheer makes it the perfect weeknight date-night top!

To keep this look soft, neutral, and feminine, I chose my favorite blush pink envelope clutch and my new Sam Edelman scalloped flats! I have had my eye on these flats for a while but never had a solid excuse to buy them.. mostly because I already have so many other pairs of flats. Oops.

But I was just in one of my best friend's weddings (see this photo I shared on Instagram!) and the bride, being the sweetest person alive that she is, told us all we could wear whatever shoe we wanted as long as it was a neutral color. As the bridesmaids were talking, we all decided we would go with neutral flats because our dresses were long and flats would be the most comfortable/a guarantee none of us would trip down the aisle (I'm so clumsy I was actually worried about this).

So, long story short, I ran into these scalloped beauties at Saks Off Fifth and couldn't pass them up! I especially couldn't pass them up when I tried them on and realized how comfortable they were! The number one thing I pay attention to when buying a new pair of flats is comfort. I mean that's the point of wearing flats, right?

Something you all may not know is that shoes are often tricky for me to buy due to a major surgery I had on my right ankle a few years ago. Although it was a while ago, due to the nature of my injury and of the surgery, the back of my heel is still extremely sensitive and my foot/ankle is just enough larger now than my left foot/ankle now that it makes shoe buying difficult.

So whenever I say a pair of shoes is comfortable it means that seriously... they're really comfortable. The thing that rules out a pair of flats for me when shopping is if the back is too tight and I'm basically already forming blisters while trying them on in the store. The beauty about this pair is that they're lined with the softest suede and then fit to where they don't fall off your foot while walking, but also don't hug the back of your heel and give you instant blisters.

Another tip I have when buying flats is to opt for a slingback pair if you're shopping online and don't get to try them on before purchasing! Do you all have a favorite pair of comfortable flats you would recommend? Are you loving or hating the ruffle trend? What's your go-to weeknight date night look? I would love to hear in the comments below!

And don't forget that you can shop this look below as well! I have linked a bunch of my favorite neutral, ruffled tops so be sure to check those out if you're on the look-out for one! Hope you're all having a great week so far! XOXO
